For the dancer that loves the thrill and excitement of performing on stage and wants to work towards a common goal with a team environment, dance competitions can provide the motivation and incentive to push themselves to grow and develop to new heights.
Team Commitment and Expectations
Strong commitment is expected from dancers and their parents from September 2024 to June 2025
All competitive dancers will attend 3 local competitions (2 Chatham, 1 London, ON)
All Teams will participate in our Holiday Showcase in December and Spring Recital in June.
Attendance is mandatory for competitions, shows, extra rehearsals and regular classes
When needed, extra rehearsals will take place on weekends with plenty of advance communications

Classes run September 2024 to May 2025
Dance classes will be 5-6 hours a week
Technique training classes will include ballet, stretch and progressions (leaps and turns)
Classes will be split between 2 evenings throughout the week days
5 dances will be learned each of a different dance style
Dance styles taken to competition will be chosen between jazz, lyrical, musical theatre and hip-hop
All teams will participate in our Holiday Showcase in December and Spring Recital in June
Additional dances and solo, duet, trios
Junior, Teen and Senior dance members have the opportunity to compete in “additional” or “selected” small groups; these are add-on dances that the staff will organize and select dancers from all ages of teams
Solos are opportunities for individual dancers to perform a dance by themselves, rehearsing 30 minutes once a week
Duets are opportunities for two dancers to perform a dance with each other, rehearsing 30 minutes once a week
Trios are opportunities for three dancers to perform a dance, rehearsing 30 minutes once a week
All solos, duets and trios will have an additional cost for monthly tuition for their once a week private, costume fees, choreography fee and competition fees
Team costs
Monthly tuition is a set amount, due at the beginning of each month.
There are additional costs when joining the Ascension Dance Competitive team
Costume fees (one fee for each costume)
Competitive Entry Fees for all dances going to competition
Ascension Dance team jacket (to be worn at competitions)
Dance shoes, tights, make up etc.
Extra choreography fees for solos, small groups etc. These are optional, more information will be given at the beginning of the dance season
Audition and interview
Registration is open, we are accepting new competitive team students at this time.
Auditions are free of charge but require registration prior to audition date.
Auditions will include a short stretch session, learning a short dance combo, participating in some across the floor technique exercises. This will give the staff an opportunity to see the dancer learn, perform and show their abilities. Ballet, jazz or lyrical shoes are encouraged – if these are not available to you, bare feet are best. Please wear flexible, form fitting, sports clothes. Information packages will be given addressing information such as competition dates, cost, etc.
