Whether you are a beginner who has always been curious about exploring dance, or an experienced dancer in your past and want to bring dance back into your life, we have classes for all levels. Our schedule will be updated throughout the year with drop-in one time commitment workshops of multiple dance styles.
No, you do not need any previous dance experience necessary. Our dance teachers excel at creating dance routines that will be loved by all levels of dancers. The dance teacher will start with a stretch or warm up each class, teach a small section of choreography in detail and repeat with counts and then with music. That will be repeated until the full routine is taught. This is a great way to work the dance into the memory and help all dancers feel confident with the dance moves as the class goes along. Once the base choreography is taught, the teacher will give options to add advanced moves and tricks if you wish to challenge yourself.
We have dancers sign up for class with no experience as a complete beginner, but we also have dancers who sign up who have danced recreationally in their youth or was on a competitive team as a teen. Ascension Dance is a safe and inclusive space for all adult ages and abilities.
Yes, please register for your adult drop-in dance class. Use the chart above to find the class you want to attend and create an account with our class system Jack Rabbit. This will make it easier to register for your next class, and it helps us monitor attendance for each class. We have limited spaces for each adult drop-in class, registering for the class will ensure that you have a spot for your favourite class.
Each adult drop in class is a single one time commitment.
Each one adult drop in class is $13.27 + hst, which equals $15.00 even. We accept cash, visa, and debit. You can pay for your adult drop in class online through your Jack Rabbit system account before class, or use the debit machine in person before your class.
Ballet/Jazz/Lyrical/Musical Theatre Classes:
If you have proper dance shoes such as ballet shoes, lyrical shoes, jazz shoes, please feel free to wear those. If you do not have proper dance shoes, please wear socks and you have the choice of socks or bare feet. Flexible form fitting clothes, such as yoga leggings and a flexible shirt. Bringing a light sweater is encouraged. No jeans or denim please.
Hip-hop:
Clean running shoes and socks are encouraged, something with not too much grip on the floor but with lots of support for your feet. If you do not have clean running shoes, bare feet and socks are best. Sweatpants and sweaters are encouraged, any flexible clothes that you can move freely in and feel confident in. No jeans or denim please.
