Hip-hop incorporates elements of popping, locking, breaking, jazz, ballet, tap dancing and other styles and is typically performed to hip-hop, R&B, funk, electronic or pop music
Here at Ascension Dance, our routines are choreographed to contemporary music, using dance styles like: hip hop, funk, freestyle, street dance, or music video type dances. This class is energized and upbeat, exploring rhythm and the elements of hip hop.
All outfits should be safe to dance in, comfortable, made with flexible material, and something the dancer feels happy and confident in.
Hair styles need to be pulled off the dancer’s face and secured so that it will stay in place all class. For example: braids, pony tail, with bangs clipped back.
Jewelry that dangles is not permitted as it is a safety hazard. Small pieces of jewelry are allowed, as long as they are not distracting to the dancer. Suggested examples are stud earrings, elastic bracelets, thin rings.
