Typical elements of jazz dance are isolation movements, precise leg, arm and foot movements, powerful jumps and turns within a diverse and energetic dance style. Jazz dancing is a form that showcases a dancer’s originality.
Starting with a warm up of the body such as cardio and stretching, we will review the technical elements of the jazz style. We will rehearse moves such as grapevines, chasses, kicks, turns, leaps, etc. Dancers will be taught choreography each week exploring different elements, moods and styles of jazz (inspired from swing, latin, etc).
All outfits should be safe to dance in, comfortable, made with flexible material, and something the dancer feels happy and confident in.

Hair styles need to be pulled off the dancer’s face and secured so that it will stay in place all class. Some examples are:
Shoes
Jazz shoes are required for class (preferably canvas or leather, slip on with no tie up laces). These are designed to keep your dancer’s feet safe while helping them build the muscles and stability necessary for dance and getting them used to how dance shoes connect with the floor.
Our combination jazz and hiphop classes are very fun and upbeat classes to introduce two styles of dance designed for young children. Starting with cardio and isolations to warm up the body, you will then will learn basic technique of a jazz syllabus. Each class will end with dance choreography involving both jazz and hiphop moves, exploring movement and rhythm in an entertaining and upbeat way.

Aimed at adult dancers of all abilities, adult jazz classes include engaging choreographed dances each week exploring different elements, moods and styles of jazz. This is a great way to try out jazz, have fun and get strong and flexible all at the same time.
For students of all ages and abilities who want to advance quickly and build their skills, strength, technique and balance in a one-on-one environment. 30- or 60- minute time slots are available.
